Calorie Calculator
This calculator estimates your daily calorie needs based on age, sex, height, weight, and activity level. It is commonly used for weight management planning.
Method
Most calculators first estimate Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, then multiply by an activity factor to get Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).
Mifflin-St Jeor (approximate):
Men: BMR = 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age + 5
Women: BMR = 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age − 161
Then TDEE = BMR × Activity Multiplier
Example
A 30-year-old woman, 65 kg, 165 cm, moderately active:
BMR ≈ 10×65 + 6.25×165 − 5×30 − 161 = 1386.25
TDEE (moderate activity ≈ 1.55) ≈ 1386 × 1.55 ≈ 2148 calories
Note: These are estimates only. Individual needs vary with metabolism, body composition, and other factors.
