BMR Calculator
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) estimates the number of calories your body needs at complete rest to maintain basic life functions.
Mifflin-St Jeor Formula
Men: BMR = 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age(years) + 5
Women: BMR = 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age(years) − 161
Example
Man, 28 years, 80 kg, 180 cm:
BMR = 10×80 + 6.25×180 − 5×28 + 5 = 800 + 1125 − 140 + 5 = 1790 calories
BMR is only the resting requirement. Actual daily needs are higher once activity is included.
